Im interested in adding a wd hitch for my aluminum snowmobile trailer. The gross is ~7000#, and tw ~700#. The model 66154 would appear to be a good match for me, and the adjustable placement of the brackets is key since this is a V-nose trailer, and I only have about 22 from ball to trailer body. My question is this - are these WD hitches usable on an aluminum trailer frame the frame rails are boxed aluminum. Thanks, Mike

Yes, you can use weight distribution systems on an aluminum trailer frame. You will want the tongue weight to stay between 400 and 800 pounds for the system to be effective. If so, then the Reese SC weight distribution system, part # RP66153, would be a great system for you. An added bonus to this system is that sway control is built in to the hangers with friction pads, so you are getting two systems in one.

To complete this system you will need a hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch shank. If your trailer coupler uses a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball then Tow Ready Ball, # 19286, would be correct. If your trailer coupler uses a 2 inch hitch ball then the Curt Ball, # A-90, would be correct.
