Question:

Hi Can you tell me the wire placement on a 7-way plug Thanks

asked by: Scott

Expert Reply:

Yes, the 7-Pin Round connector is wired differently than the 7-Way flat RV connector. I will list the wiring connections inside the plug on the trailer side for you.

At the index guide for plugging the trailer end in to the vehicle end the pin directly below will be the ground connection.
Going clockwise the pin in the 1 o clock position is for 12 volt power
the pin in the 4 o clock position is the left turn/brake
the pin in the 6 o clock position is the auxiliary power or backup lights
The pin in the 8 o clock position is the right turn/brake
The pin in the 10 o clock position is the taillights
The Center pin is the brake feed to the trailer brakes.

Remember when looking at the connector you are looking at the inside where the connections are made, not the where it connects to the vehicle or trailer.
