Will SportRack Folding 2 Bike Rack Allow Access to Cargo Area on a 2007 Jeep Compass

The SportRack 2 Bike Carrier you were looking at, part # A30901, does not fold to allow access to the trunk or hatch. The lower arms with the wheel cradles fold up for storage purposes.

We do have several bike racks that do fold down or swing out to allow trunk and hatch access. There are not many in the wheel mount style. I do know of one, but I do not know if it would swing down low enough to allow access to your door since I do not know how low your hitch sits and how far out the hatch swings. The rack is the Thule T2 Quick-Load rack part # TH917XTR.

If the fold-down feature is more important to you than the mounting style, we have several other racks that will fold down enough to allow trunk access. the Thule Roadway, part # TH912XT, should swing down low enough and will fit 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch hitches.

The Swagman Trailhead rack, part # S63360, is another rack that tilts down to provide access and again fits all hitch sizes.

We even have light weight aluminum racks like the Thule Helium, part # TH970XT that will tilt down to clear hatches and trunks. Please note that on these bike racks you will have to support most of the weight and the bikes will want to rotate in the cradles as you lower them.

The Softride Parallelogram racks, like part # SR26248, tilt in a way to keep the bikes level so you will not have to support them.
