Question:
I have a Ford expedition 2008 that came with a 4 pin trailer connector. I just bought a trailer 7000 lb. capacity that has a 7 pin pigtail. It looks to me like I need a brake controller, P/N 90185-3035P, and a brake controller installation kit, P/N ETBC7. Are these the parts I need, and do I need anything else? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Expert Reply:
You will need some sort of brake controller. Tekonsha Prodigy Controller, part # 90185-3035P is one of our best selling brake controllers. It is a proportional controller, which means the more brake pressure you apply on the foot brake the more brake pressure it applies to the trailer brakes. This will yield smoother stops and there will be less wear on the brakes of your Expedition. Since your 2008 Expedition already comes pre-wired for adding a 7-Way, instead of using part # ETBC7, you can use part # 37185. ETBC7 includes breakers and wires that you would not need. Other than these two items, you should not need anything else to get your trailer set up. If you have further questions, please write back.
