Question:
On your video for the installation of the 5500 in a 2008 ford SD there is no mention of using a 30 amp fuse, but it states on the 5500 information that one is recommended. Is there anything other than the harness adapter and 5500 unit that is required for installation?

Expert Reply:
If you are hard wiring the Activator II electronic brake controller, item # 5500,on your 2009 Ford Super Duty, then you will need to use a 30 amp circuit breaker, item # PK54530, to wire the black wire on the brake controller to the battery. If you are using the factory wiring harness you will need to use the Brake Controller Wiring Adapter for Pre-Wired 2008 Ford Super Duty Vehicles, item # 20270, (also works on 2009). Vehicles not equipped with factory trailer tow package, may require fuses and relays to complete output and battery feed circuits. You can find the location of these fuses and relays in the owners manual.
