To attach the Draw-Tite Activator II, item # 5500, electronic brake controller to your vehicles factory connector you will need a Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter, Nissan, item # 20266. This adapter has four wires that attach color for color to the wires on the brake controller. If you have an adapter that plugs into your vehicle that has five wires then you will have to use a circuit tester, item # 3808 if you need one, and verify the function of each wire once it is plugged in. Attach the red wire on the brake controller to the output from the vehicle brakes that goes hot when the brake pedal is pressed, attach the black wire to the circuit with constant 12 volt power, attach the blue output wire to the wire going to the trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle and the white wire should be attached to the ground wire. The instructions, see link, indicate that when the controller is installed and no trailer is connected there should be a single decimal point in the display of the Activator II. When the trailer is connected the controller will then show the output on the display when the brake pedal is depressed.
