Question:
I noticed that the specs on the Tow Ready Cushioned Ball Mount say: 2 poly Urethene absorbors and the etrailer brand does not. Does the etrailer brand have 1 or 2? Second, why the price difference is there a quality difference? Thank you!

Expert Reply:
Both the Tow Ready Cushioned Ball Mount, item # TR80421 and the etrailer.com Cushioned Ball Mount, item # AMSC4, have two polyurethane absorbers one in front of and one behind the hitch pin hole. The main difference in the ball mounts is that the Tow Ready is rated for 10,000 pounds trailer weight and 1,000 pounds tongue weight, and the etrailer brand is rated for 10,000 pounds trailer weight and 2,000 pounds tongue weight. The extension is also a bit different and the Tow Ready brand has a 9-7/8 inch hitch pin hole to ball mount hole measurement while the same measurement on the etrailer ball mount is 10 inches. The etrailer brand is slightly less expensive because we order these in quantity and have them manufactured specifically for us. The quality of the brands is equal but the capacities are different as stated above so the etrailer brand will accept a higher tongue weight trailer than the Tow Ready ball mount.
