Hard Wiring Trailer Lights on 1995 Chevrolet Astro Van

Question:

I need to know what wire to splice into to hard wire my 95 Chevy Astro. Thanks.

Expert Reply:

To wire your 1995 Chevrolet Astro Van you will need to access the vehicle taillight wiring either by removing the taillights themselves or by removing an interior panel to access the wiring. Once you have access to the wiring you will need to use a circuit tester, item # 3808, to test the wiring and splice the proper wiring from the trailer connector, item # 18002, into the taillight wiring.

The wiring on the connector is as follows. Yellow is left turn/brake light, green is right turn/brake light, brown is taillights and white is the ground wire. Connect each of the colored wires to its corresponding circuit and connect the white wire to a suitable ground.
