Correct Ball Size for Reese 66151 Weight Distribution Hitch

Question:

Your description for this item says that it needs a ball with a 1-1/4 shank. I found that these are availalble with 1-1/4 diameter shanks but in several different shank lengths. Can you tell me how long the shank can be minimum & maximum length so I can be sure and get the correct ball? Thanks.
