I want to convert my hitch to a gooseneck. My fifthwheel is 38ft with a gwr of 17k and a max tongue wt of 4000. what size goose neck adapter and bed hitch should I get?

You have a couple of options for a gooseneck hitch adapter for your 38 foot 17,000 pound fifth-wheel trailer. The Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Cushioned Trailer Adapter, item # CAB-C5G-14 and the Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Adapter, item # 39062, would both be good choices. You will need to measure the distance from the top of where the gooseneck ball would be to the pin box to select the proper size adapter. The Cushioned adapter # CAB-C5G-14 is 14 inches tall.

To install a gooseneck in your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado (see link) you have several options and I would need to know the bed length and weight rating of your truck, 1500, 2500, or 3500. The gooseneck hitches available at this time start at 25,000 pounds so the weight rating will be well within your trailers weight.

If you already have fifth-wheel rails in your bed you can use a gooseneck plate with them like the Reese Elite Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # RP30845.
