I have a camper trailer that is giving me a problem. The brake seem to work fine but just will not hole the trailer. If you jack the trailer up the wheel will stop as if the brakes are working. What is the amps. that the megnets will pull when you hit the brakes. This unit is drawing 10 amps.

You might want to verify that the brakes are properly adjusted. To adjust brakes, jack up trailer and secure on adequate capacity jack stands. Follow trailer manufacturers recommendations for
lifting and supporting the unit. Check that the wheel and drum rotate freely. Remove the adjusting hole cover from the adjusting slot on the bottom of the brake backing plate. With a screwdriver or standard adjusting tool, rotate the starwheel of the adjuster assembly to expand the brake shoes. adjust the brake shoes out until the pressure of the linings against the drum makes the wheel very difficult to turn. Then rotate the starwheel in the opposite direction until the wheel turns freely with a slight lining drag. Replace the adjusting hole cover and lower the wheel to the ground. Repeat the above procedure on all brakes. The amps read at the magnets will vary according to how many brakes are on the trailer. Assuming that the controller is turned up to maximum output, at approximately 12 volts, you should read around 6 amps at each magnet with a single axle with two brakes. With two axles and 4 brakes, you should read around 12 amps at each magnet.
