Matching Wires Colors on Wiring Adapter, Part # 3015P to Tekonsha Voyager, part # 39510

Question:

i have 2005 gmc truck with factory wired tow package. i have purchased a 9030 tekonsa controller and a 3015p connector. when i cut the 1 plug end offthe flat blk end to wire it to the brake controller should i match color for color. what would happen if i allready have matched colors.

The Wiring Adapter, part # 3015P will wire up color for color to the brake controller.
