We have just purchased a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab and are finding out that we are not able to have a fifth wheel hitch mounted. What are our options for an installation kit? We are looking at ordering this part. Do we need both the brackets and the rails when we already have rails of our own? Will this kit work???? THanks for your prompty reply,

In short, yes we have the brackets to attach your rails to your 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. If you already have a fifth wheel with rails and know you have enough clearance with your bed length, the brackets for attaching the rails to your truck are part # RP50083. These cannot be used with a Crew Cab which is a 4 door with a shorter bed, approx 5 feet 7 inches. If you have the 6-1/2 or 8 foot bed, these will work just fine.

If you have a 6-1/2 ft. bed you will need at least a slider for your fifth wheel and depending on your trailer width, you may even need a SideWinder. I have included a link to our SideWinder page to help you determine if a SideWinder is needed.
