Prodigy Brake Controller, part # 90185, disconnected, but read-out says connected

Question:

When the trailer is disconnected I get a number on the display .1.5 I do not get the two dots I just recently replaced the battery

Expert Reply:

I spoke with our technical advisor and he said to start with the 7-way plug on the back of your Silverado. Unplug the 7-way plug from the factory plug beneath your rear bumper. If your Prodigy brake controller, part # 90185, shows the two dots, then the 7-way plug is the problem.

If you still do not have the two dots on your brake controller when disconnected from the trailer, you will need to check the wires on the back of your brake controller. Follow these wires along the underside of your vehicle. Check for pinched, broken or frayed wires.
