Question:
Mornin Guys, we are about to purchase a class 8 truck to pull our electric brake trailer big hills- high altitude. I have seen one product advertised for air brake application - I believe it was Hayes. We plan to use the Jake quite a lot on downs and do not want the trailer brake to engage in that situation. Do you have a controller recommendation?

Expert Reply:
Since the brake controller is activated by picking up the brake light signal, any controller would work fine for your trailer. Since jake brakes typically do not activate the brake lights, you would be fine using the jake going downhill without actuating the trailer brakes. The Tekonsha Prodigy, part # 90185 would be a great choice. It is very easy to use and set up.
