Question:
It is my guess that Dodge included a pigtail for trailer wiring on all its Durango vehicles. My question is where on the vehicle would I find it? I have a factory hitch with the 7 pin connector already attached. This part is from a salvage yard. Also, do I need to go back and get the relays from the salvage vehicle.

If your Durango left the factory with the Tow Package, it will certainly have the port for installing a brake controller. All that would be needed is the Wiring Adapter, part # 20261. If your Durango was not equipped with the tow package, it is possible that the port might be in place. Behind the emergency brake pedal there will be a small white box attached to the firewall. If the connector is there, it will be clipped to the top of this box. You will need to use a circuit tester on the connector, and check if one of the pins supplies 12V, and one of them goes hot when the brake is applied. If so, the connector is functional, but you will probably have to run your own 12 gauge wire back to the connector. For trailer lighting, you will need a T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118334 to tap into the lighting circuits behind the taillight assemblies. You could cut the 4 way connector off of the end, and wire it into your 7-Way. You should not need the relays.
