Question:
When I connected the unit to my truck, it recommended I plug the wire into the unit first and then the truck. Is it okay to disconnect and reconnect the wire harness from the unit only to store it out of sight when not in use or do I have to connect the unit first and then to the truck each time I remove it?

You can just unplug the wiring harness from the Tekonsha P-3 Trailer Brake Controller, item # 90195, when storing the unit. Be sure that when the wire is disconnected that the wire is not hanging in the way of any moving parts, such as the gas or brake pedal, and that it will not interfere with the operation of any of the vehicles necessary controls. The instructions state to connect the harness into the unit first and then the truck so that you will see exactly how the connector latches. This will aid in subsequent removal and installation.
