Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Cushioned Trailer Adapter Torque Load on Kingpin Box

Question:

I have a truck with a goose neck hitch and have been told adapters like this can excessive torque on the kingpin box on the RV. Any truth to that?

Expert Reply:

This adapter will not put any excessive torque on the kingpin box. However this adapter is not designed for continual or cross country use. The ideal purpose is for adapting the trailer to your gooseneck for a short trip.

We do have customers that do use this continually. Usually a rougher ride is the outcome, but it would not damage the kingpin box.
