The installation procedure can vary depending on which Installation Kit you use. For your 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, we offer a vehicle-specific Custom Installation Kit, part # RP50064-58 or a Universal Install Kit, part # RP30035. The rear rail would need to be mounted so that it is 25-1/8 inches away from the rear of the bed. The manufacturer of the installation kits do not recommend using a fifth wheel hitch with slider on a truck with a bed shorter than 6 feet long, as the front of the trailer might come into contact with the rear of the cab. A better option would be to use a Sidewinder, which would relocate the pivot point from the king pin to the pin box, which would gain you an extra 22 inches of clearance between the truck cab and the front of the trailer.
