Is the hitch ball on the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails welded in?

Is the hitch ball welded in or can it be replaced?

Yes, the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails, part # 16908, is solidly welded on. It requires fifth wheel base rails and a bracket kit for mounting (sold separately). I spoke with my contact at Curt Manufacturing and she said the ball cannot be replaced since it would compromise the integrity of the product.
