Replacing Damaged Spindle on Torsion Axle for Enclosed Trailer

Question:

bearing failure ruined spindle how do you replace it with torsion susprnsion

asked by: Charles B

Expert Reply:

Unfortunately, there is no good and easy way of replacing the spindle of a torsion axle.

The spindle is welded into the suspension arm, and would need to be cut out. The replacement spindle would need to be welded into place. The heat involved in cutting out the old and installing the new spindle would damage the rubber torsion suspension cords inside the axle.

I am sorry to say that replacing the axle will be your best bet. If you are in the St. Louis, MO area we can order an axle for you, but we do not ship them due to their size and weight.
