How to Wire a 6-way Trailer End Electrical Connector on a 2007 Nissan Frontier Pickup

Question:

How would a fellow install this spiffy contraption on a late-model Nissan Frontier? That is, where are the brake/aux wires on such a truck?

Expert Reply:

If your Nissan pickup has a factory tow package you can use the T-One vehicle specific wiring harness for the 4-flat connector, part number 118263, and then use a 6-pole adapter kit, part number ETBC6, to complete the wiring needed for the brakes and axillary power. You will need to locate the tow vehicle trailer harness connector. The gray 6-pin plug is located under the vehicle, behind the rear bumper on the driver’s side, along the frame rail.

If you do not have the factory tow package the harness will not function properly and you will need to Hard wire a 4 way connector to the taillight circuits with a Upgraded Circuit Protected Modulite with 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit, part number 119176KIT, and then use the 6 pole adapter kit, mentioned above, to complete the wiring.

Once you have the 4-way connected to the adapter and are ready to run the accessory power and brake controller wires you will need to install the brake controller by finding the 12 volt brake output wire under the dash at the brake switch and wire it to the red wire on the brake controller and then wire the blue output wire from the brake controller to the blue wire on the 6 way connector. You will then have to wire the brake controllers black wire to the positive terminal of the battery, through a circuit breaker, and the white wire to ground.

Almost there! The final connection is the axillary power wire which is connected via a circuit breaker to the battery also. All of the instructions are included with each kit and the wiring is pretty straight forward so you will be able to do it.
