Question:
I noticed in the picture that the drivers side mounting surface only has two pre drilled holes, and the passenger has three. Is this just an incorrect picture, or will I have to drill the third hole myself.

The Valley Class III Round Tube Trailer Hitch, part number V81800 is a no drill installation. The frame of your 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee has existing weld nuts in the frame and you will bolt the hitch in that location, with 3 bolts on the right side and two on the left (drivers) side. These hitches are surprisingly easy to install.You will need a drawbar, part number 2923, pin and clip, PC3, or receiver lock, 5201, properly sized hitch ball, 19247 or 19260, and wiring, 118369 or 42535 to complete your towing setup.
