Weight capacity of Swagman XP 5 Bike Folding Rack for 2 Hitch and Tether Strap Information

Question:

What is the total carrying capacity of this 5-bike rack? How important is it to use the safety strap that comes with this rack? I am not sure where Id attach the safety strap on my vehicle. I look forward to your reply.

I spoke with my contact at Swagman, and she told me the total weight capacity of the Swagman XP 5 Bike Folding Rack for 2 Hitch is 125 lbs. The tether strap is very important and the company will void the warranty if it is not used. She also advised to load the heaviest bike closest to the vehicle for best weight distribution on the rack.
If you could email me what type of vehicle you would be using this bike rack with I could make some recommendations as to where the strap can be securely attached.
