do you have base plates for 2013 jeep wrangler sport
asked by: Mike J
The Roadmaster base plates that you referenced, # 1432-1, are designed for the 2013 Jeep Wrangler provided that it does not have an aftermarket bumper, winch, or guard. I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and they will fit the Sport models.
In addition to the base plates you will also need a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. The most popular tow bar for the XL base plates is the Falcon 2, # RM-520, and for safety cables use # RM-643.
For lighting there are a few options. If you do not plan on towing the Jeep often then a magnetic kit, # C-ATL20A, is the way to go. If you will be towing it often then a more permanent option is the Tow Daddy harness # TD10000C. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
Most states now require a supplemental braking system on a vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Even Brake # RM-9400 proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for additional information on flat towing (recreational towing). I have included a helpful link to our series of FAQ articles on flat towing for you to view.
