Question:
I understrand that it is coated for rust resistance, However does this carrier would resist rust even when I drive on the beach all the time with it attached to my truck, or I have to look for one that is not made from steel.

The Cargo carriers that we carry are powder coated for rust resistance and will stay rust free as long as the coating is not compromised. Driving with the cargo carrier invariably causes road debris to chip and scratch the surface causing the carrier to rust. The only way to keep the carrier rust free is to perform regular maintenance, cleaning and painting, to keep the carrier nice. On a beach the salt from the water and air and the sand will definitely make the maintenance schedule more often and even an aluminum carrier would be subject to oxidization and would require maintenance. I would recommend the 22x56 Folding Polypropylene Cargo Carrier, part number 7507, which has a polypropylene tray with steel framing. This carrier would require less maintenance and would be easier to maintain and also on the beach the tray would protect your cargo from sand and road debris more than a carrier with a mesh bottom. A cargo carrier such as the polypropylene carrier suggested would be easy to maintain and would resist rust even better if when you do need to perform maintenance you used a rust preventative spray such as those offered at auto parts stores.
