I am sorry, this adapter will not work for you, however, you can still get the job done. The 1997 Chevy Silverado did not come with the tow wiring included, so there is no adapter available. That said, you can still wire your pickup for a brake controller, no problem.

If your pickup has no plug on the back, you can get a T-one wiring harness, part 118315. That will give you the 4-pole plug. You will also need the ETBC7, which is a kit that gives you 7-pole plug and has wiring which is run to the front of your vehicle for the brake controller.

We have an excellent selection of brake controllers, if you do not already have one. I recommend either the Prodigy (which is a snap to install and use), or the P3 (which is just as easy), but has a few more bells and whistles to fine-tune your stopping.
