How Close Does Trailer Ball Height Need to be to the Height of the Trailer Coupler

How Close Does Trailer Ball Height Need to be to the Height of the Trailer Coupler

Question:

How much tolerance is allowable for safe towing if a ball mount and ball will not exactly match height of trailer coupler? i.e., 1/2, 1 I am having trouble finding a mount that is not either too high or too low. I will appreciate any help you can offer.

The trick here is to get as close as possible. If you are talking about less than 2 inches or so, there is nothing to worry about. Having the trailer tongue a bit too high is preferable to it being too low.

You may be a good candidate for an adjustable ball mount. I would recommend the Hidden Hitch Adjustable Ball Mount, part # 80412 which adjusts in 1-1/2 inch increments between a 9-5/8 inch drop to a 8-3/8 inch rise.

I am including a link to a demonstration video showing the features of the # 80412 ballmount, as well as a link to our adjustable ball mount category so you can see the other mounts we have available.
