Trailer Hitch Recommendations for a 2009 Toyota Tacoma 2 Wheel Drive Access Cab

Will Curt 2 Inch Bumper Hitch Fit a 2009 Toyota Tacoma 2WD AccessCab? The bumper has 3 holes which are as follows: a 1inch diameter middle hole, and two 3/4inch diameter holes which are each 3-15/16inch on-center apart from the center-line of the large hole.

Based on the measurement you have provided, the Curt bumper mount hitch # E-3S will not fit your 2009 Toyota Tacoma. One set of mounting holes are spaced to close together and the other set too far apart to fit your bumper.

I recommend a custom fit frame mount hitch, # 87581, which fits all models except the X-Runner. A frame mount hitch is going to give you higher capacity than a bumper mount hitch. I have linked instructions and an install video for you.

Another option is to use the bumper by itself if you will be towing a trailer. The large center hole will accept a ball with a 1 inch diameter shank. I have included a link to all of the balls with a 1 inch diameter shank. Consult the truck owners manual for the towing capacity of the bumper.

If you decide to go with a frame mount, I also recommend the etrailer ball mount kit, # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin and clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring, use # 118496. I have linked instructions and a video for the wiring as well.
