Fascia Trimming Required for Trailer Hitch Installation on a 2008 Toyota 4Runner

Question:

We own a 2008 Toyota 4 runner. Is this the best hitch for our 4 runner and I see where some have said they need to trim a part. Will we need to do this too even though it says it custom fit for 2008.Is there video? I see 2 but not one for a 4 runner.

There is fascia trimming involved when installing the Hidden Hitch trailer hitch, # 70779, on a 2008 Toyota 4Runner. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. The area that needs to be trimmed is under the vehicle and cannot be seen. This is to allow the hitch to fit flush where it needs to. This is the most popular hitch for the 2008 Toyota 4Runner.

Sometimes custom fit hitches require some trimming because there is no other way for them to fit properly. These modifications are small and do not normally affect the appearance of the vehicle.

We have not yet had the chance to install a hitch on a 2008 4Runner so I do not have a video I can link. We do have a video showing a typical installation on a 2004 Lexus GX 470 which will be very similar minus the fascia trimming.

If you plan on doing some towing I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit, # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring, unless the vehicle came with it already, you can use # 119175KIT. I have linked instructions for the wiring as well.
