Do Mounting Plates of Stromberg Carlson or Ultra-Fab Scissor Jacks Remain Level When Jack is Raised

Question:

I am looking for a scissor jack to raise and lower a car roof cargo box stored on top of a rolling shelving unit. I am thinking of bolting two of the scissor jacks either UF48-979006 or JSC-24-IND. I would mount ~24 wide supports to the top bracket of the jacks. I would have these supports run parallel to the extended body of the lift. The question is would the top brackets remain fairly level as jack is raised and lowered or would the top bracket rotate a bit from level if the weight distribution is not perfectly centered? Thanks

Expert Reply:

As the jacks are raised an lowered, the upper mounting plate are designed to remain level.

As you can see from the photo I edited, the ends of the jack uprights have gears or teeth built into them so that the mounting plate remains level. The Stromberg Carlson Jack, part # JSC-24-IND operates the same way.
