Question:
I have a Ford Flex SEL AWD with a factory towing package. I will be towing a Casita Spirit Delux with a dry tonge weight of 365# and an approximate dry total trailer weight of 2,500#. The distance from the ball coupling to the propane tanks is approximately 24 inches to the front and 36 inches to the back of the tanks. My question is, is there a weight distribution system that will work effectively and can be installed without modifications to the propane tanks. What is that recommendation. Thanks

The Reese SC Weight Distribution System with Sway Control, # RP66151, can have the hangar brackets mounted anywhere between 20 inches and 27 inches from the center of the hitch ball, which would allow you to use the weight distribution without having to modify to propane tanks or the tongue of your trailer.
Before you purchase a weight distribution system, you should verify the tongue weight of your trailer when it is fully loaded and ready to tow. Our weight distribution systems will have a range for the tongue weight rating and you should choose a system that encompasses the fully loaded tongue weight of your trailer. Keep in mind that anything loaded behind the rear axle in your Ford Flex will also contribute to the tongue weight.
The weight distribution system # RP66151 can support tongue weights between 200 lbs and 600 lbs. This system also has sway control to provide a more stable ride. This system includes the adjustable shank, however the hitch balls are sold separately. This system requires a hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch shank. For a 2 inch hitch ball look at part # A-90 or for a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball, look at part # 19286. I have attached the installation instructions for you to check out.
I have also attached two articles on weight distribution and tongue weight for you to check out.
