Yes, Thule does list the Passage 3, # TH911XT, as a fit for the 1997 Ford Explorer 2 or 4-door models. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view.
If you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes, I recommend using the bike adapter bar # TH982XT, for greater ground clearance and to carry the bikes more level. I have included a link to a video that shows how the adapter works.
