Question:
I need to figure out which kayak rack I can use with my 2008 trailblazer. It has a factory installed rack and crossbars. Seems to be a problem as standard Yakima and Thule are not recommended.

You are correct, the factory crossbars on a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer are not compatible with Yakima or Thule Kayak carriers. I do have a solution for you though. You can add the following Thule parts to add some compatible crossbars:
2 sets of # TH4602
Thule Fit Kit, # THKIT3101
Thule load bars # THLB50
Then, with this rack installed, you can use a Thule kayak carrier like the Stacker, # TH830.
You may be able to use some foam blocks on the factory crossbars, # ABR525. Consult the weight rating for the factory roof rack on the vehicle. It may be rated for a low amount of weight which is not able to support a kayak.
