Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2007 Volvo V70 for Towing a Dual Jetski Trailer

Hello. I am trying to decide which of our two vehicles to use for towing a dual jetski trailer. My preference would be our 2007 Volvo V70, however I see that there are no hitches here rated higher than class II listed for it. For some reason, our second vehicle, 2008 Honda Element LX awd, which has lower max towing capacity and lower max tongue weight, can be fitted with various class III hitches. Seems odd. Do you know why this would be? And is there any class III solution for the 2007 Volvo V70? Thanks in advance.

Here is what I suggest. Compare the owners manuals for both vehicles to determine which vehicle has the higher towing capacities and go with the one that has the higher capacity. Many times, a Class III hitch is made for a vehicle because of that vehicles popularity. Even though the vehicle cannot tow much manufacturers still make a Class III hitch because there are more accessory options for the Class III.

It sounds like the Volvo has a higher capacity based on the information you have given so I would go with it. Trailer hitch # 90804 that you have referenced is the most popular hitch for the vehicle. It also comes with a ball mount, hitch pin, and clip.

For a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. For trailer wiring use # 119176KIT. I have included links to the installation instructions for the hitch and wiring.
