Using Hopkins Back-Up Sensor System on 2008 Acura MDX

Question:

considering that the license plate is on the back hatch and that the rear bumper sticks out further than the license plate? Is there a better product for this car? Also, if front parking sensors are desired, would I just buy two of these units?

Expert Reply:

The two sensors on the license plate bracket are adjustable so that your bumper will not trip the alarm. However, if the sensors are adjusted too far upward, they will not pick up any objects that are close to the ground.

You can use two systems, but you would need to wire the front system differently because the system is designed to activate when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The front system could be wired directly to the positive battery terminal, and a switch could be installed so that the front sensors could be switched on and off as needed. Another option would be to tap the front sensor power wire into the running lights so that the front system is activated when the running lights are turned on.

Maybe a rear camera system would be a better choice for the rear of your vehicle. To see the camera systems we offer, click the link I have provided.
