Question:
I checked with the dealer on a factory plug in wiring harness. The price was almost double your price. The parts man told me that after I installed the harness myself I would have to take the car back to the dealer so the guys in the shop could turn on something in the computer so that the vehicle would reconize the wiring. Does this have to be done with the harnesses from e-trailer. Thank you. Do all your harnesses have to have a wire run up to the battery for power.

Both wiring harnesses for the 2012 Chrysler Town and Country, see link, are T-connectors but also need power from the vehicle battery in order to power the trailer lights. The T-connections provide the signals that tell the converter what to do. This method protects the electrical system on your van.
Because these harnesses require a battery connection, you will need to disconnect the negative cable when wiring in the harness. Having the battery disconnected will essentially re-set the computer so that when it comes back on it will recognize the wiring harness.
I have included a link to the instructions for Tow Ready wiring harness, # 118534, and a video showing a typical installation for you.
