Trailer Hitch and Bike Compatibility with a 2012 Nissan Rogue

Question:

Is there a difference between the Hidden Hitch Trailer part # 87457 and the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75606 for my 2012 Nissan Rogue SV? Also would the Thule Vertex 2 Bike Carrier part # TH9028 be a good choice for either of these hitches? Im concerned about the distance from the outermost edge of the bumper to the closest point of contact on the bike carrier. On the Thule Vertex 2 carrier it says the distance from the closest point on the carrier, to the pin hole on the carrier itself is 6.2 inches: and on the trailer hitch the pin hole will be 4.5 inches from the bumpers edge. This leaves 1.7 inches 6.2 - 4.5 between the bumpers edge and the closest point of the bike carrier when the carrier is ed into the hitch. Are my numbers right and if so is 1.7 inches eneough clearance eneough? thanks

Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite are sister companies. The Hidden Hitch # 87457 and Draw-Tite # 75606 are essentially identical. The design, appearance, build quality, finish, install method and weight capacities are identical. Both hitch crossbars are constructed of square-tube steel.

The installation instructions and video that I have attached will apply to both hitches on your 2012 Nissan Rogue. I would recommend going with the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch, # 87457, because it will be more cost effective.

The Thule Vertex 2 Bike Rack, # TH9028, would be a great fit with either hitch on your vehicle. Keep in mind that the 1.7 inch difference that you are referring to is only to the closest edge of the pivot assembly, which is plenty of distance. You will have 7-1/2 inches from the edge of your bumper to the upright bar of the bike rack. I think you will be very pleased with this bike rack.

I have attached installation instructions and a video of this bike rack for you to check out.

If you plan on carrying any womens, childrens or alternative bike frames, then I would recommend picking up the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, # TH982XT. Some small or angled bike frames can be difficult to load on a bike rack and this adapter allows you to load the bikes easily and safely.
