Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question:

I am interested in purchasing this bike rack but I have a 2007 Hyundai Sante Fe with a small spoiler at the top of the rear door. I am concerned that the wires holding the bike rack on to the car will put pressure in the spoiler and cause damage. Can you advise if this produce is suitable for the Hyundai Sante Fe with the rear spoiler at the top of the rear door, or is there a product which would be more suitable for a vehicle with a spoiler?

The rear spoiler is going to prevent the installation of a trunk mount bike rack because it cannot be safely mounted, but I do have another solution for you. You can install a trailer hitch and use a hitch mount bike rack.

Carrying bikes on a hitch is the safest method plus the hitch is versatile should you ever need to tow a trailer or use a hitch mount cargo carrier.

The most popular hitch for your 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe is # 75471. This is a 2 inch hitch so you can use up to a 5 bike rack. Since you were looking at 2 and 3 bike racks, I recommend the Swagman Titan, # S63405. This is a 3 bike rack with anti-sway cradles, the ability to tilt down, and a built-in cable lock. If you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes, I recommend using the bike adapter bar # 64005 for greater ground clearance and to carry the bike more level. I have linked a video that shows how the adapter works.
