The retractable king # FW0030 will include a threaded handle that you would use to raise the pin from the storage position. Simply screw in the handle and pull up.

To install the Holland Truck Bed Retractable King Pin, # fw0030, you will need to make sure there is at least 6.625 inches of clearance below the bed, when the bed is loaded down, at the center of the rear axle where the king pin will be when retracted. Checking the clearance with a load will ensure that the suspension can work properly and no damage will come to the rear end when there is up and down movement.

You will need at least a 1/4 inch thick steel plate, at least 36 inches wide by 50 inches long. This plate will need to be bolted through the bed and into the frame rails of the truck. The plate and bolts are not provided. The center of the king pin will need to be centered in the bed over the center of the rear axle.

You will then need to cut a 9 inch by 9 inch square hole through the plate and bed. After the king pin is inserted and aligned properly, each of the four corners will need at least 6 inches of weld. It will also require to be bolted down with four 1/2 inch grade 5 carriage bolts and nuts.

When raised in the out position, the king pin will be about 6 inches above the truck bed floor. To use this king pin, the trailer will need to be equipped with an inverted 5th wheel trailer hitch like # FW0002-45.
