Where do 5th Wheel Rails Install on a 1997 Chevy K2500

Question:

need to know were do the brackets go on the bottom of the truck

asked by: John

Expert Reply:

The brackets will install onto the frame of your 1997 K2500, to determine exactly where you will need to find the correct location of the rails for the hitch and then install them in relation to where the rails will need to be installed.

To determine the location of the rails you will need to measure 30-15/16 inches from the rear of the truck bed to the rear edge of the rear hitch rail if you have an 8 ft bed and 26-3/16 inches if you have a short bed. Check out the installation instructions I attached for the Rail Kit # RP30035 and scroll down to sheet 6.

Once you determine the location of the brackets on the frame you will drill 2 holes in the frame for each bracket.
