Recommendation of Kayak Carrier to Carry 2 Kayaks on 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe With Side Rails

what would you recommend to carry 2 kayaks on 2010 Hyundai santa fe with continuous rails. have thule racks w/Jbars on Camry but cant see clean and jerking my kayaks up onto the suv. price is a factor. thanks

Anytime you are going to haul cargo on the roof of your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe you will want to check the owners manual or with the Hyundai dealer for what the roof capacity is for your vehicle. The roof capacity will let you know how many pounds you will be able to haul on the roof of your vehicle.

To install a kayak carrier to the roof of your Santa Fe you will need crossbars that will run from side to side.

If your Santa Fe has the flush mount rails that run from front to back, you can use the Yakima RailGrab Roof Rack, part # Y00409, and part # Y00138. This roof rack will clip-on to your flush mount rails and give you crossbars for installation of the kayak carrier on your roof. I am including a link to a video of the roof rack being installed on a vehicle. The vehicle may be different but the installation will be similar.

To carry 2 kayaks on the roof of your Santa Fe the easiest system and most economical system would be the Yakima HullyRoller Kayak Carrier, part # Y04035, that you have referenced. It is a 1/2 system which means you will need to match it up with the Yakima Mako Saddles Kayak Carrier, part # Y04037, to be able to carry 1 kayak on your roof. You will need two of each part number to be able to carry 2 kayaks on the roof of your vehicle. This system will not work on fiberglass kayaks.

If your Santa Fe has the raised side rails that run from front to back, you can use the Rhino Rack SXB Roof Rack, part # SXB3, along with a Rhino Rack kayak carrier. Rhino Rack offers the Explorer Series Rear-Loading, Saddle-Style Kayak Carrier, part # RR561-WR09, which will load from the rear of the vehicle and the Explorer Series Side-Loading, Saddle-Style Kayak Carrier, part # RR560-WR09, that loads from the side of the vehicle. The Yakima kayak carrier uses a roller to aid in installing the kayak on the roof and the Rhino Rack kayak carriers have pivoting heads on the cradles to ease in installation.
