Will the Thule Helium Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Fit the Factory Hitch on a 2012 Subaru Outback

Question:

Is the Thule helium bike rack compatible with a factory installed hitch on a 2012 Subaru Outback? Im particularly concerned that the pin may not fit as the pin hole is very close to the bumper. Thanks!

The Thule Helium, # TH970XT, will fit in a 1-1/4 or 2 inch trailer hitch, so it will fit the factory hitch on your 2012 Subaru Outback. To be sure the rack clears the rear bumper, measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on the hitch out to the distance required to clear the rear bumper. If that measurement is less than 8-1/2 inches, the bike rack will fit. I have included some informational links on this bike rack for you.

If you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes, I recommend using the bike adapter bar # TH982XT for greater ground clearance and to carry the bikes more level. I have included a link to a video that shows how the adapter works.
