According to my research the manual transmission models of the 2002 Ford Mustang can be flat towed. Consult the vehicle owners manual on the proper towing procedure for the vehicle.

If you have an automatic model, you will need to have a drive shaft coupling to safely flat tow the vehicle. Again consult the owners manual or a dealer to determine if anything additional is needed.

If you determine that you can flat tow your Mustang then you can use base plates, # BX2159, that you have referenced. You would then need a compatible tow bar. The most popular tow bar that will work with the base plates is the Aventa LX, # BX7445. This tow bar also comes with safety cables so you will not need to add any additional cables.

Next you will need a lighting solution. If you will not be towing the vehicle frequently then a magnetic kit, # C-ATL20A, is the best solution. For frequent towing, use the diode kit # RM-154. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation for you.

Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot, # BRK2012. This system applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. This method reduces wear and tear on both vehicles and is the safest way to stop.
