Question:
bought the controller /factory plug to the controller, but no blue wire runs back to the factory 4 wire, where is that wire so i can run it back to the trailer? do I have to splice it in by the plug or is it located under the hood some where. thanks

A 4-Way trailer connector only contains trailer light functions. To use a brake controller, you will need to install a 7-Way trailer connector. If the trailer has a 4-Way as well, it may not have electric brakes.
To add a 7-Way and brake controller to a 2006 Toyota Tundra with a 4-Way, you will need a 4 and 7 way installation kit # ETBC7. This will provide you with the 7-Way and all of the wiring required to install a brake controller. I have included some links that explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
For a brake controller, the Tekonsha P3 # 90195, has a lot of useful feature like built-in diagnostics and the ability to function with electric and electric over hydraulic systems. I have included a link to the installation details for the brake controller for you.
