Can a T1 Trailer Wiring Harness be Installed on a 2005 Dodge Dakota with Factory Tow Package

Question:

My 2005 Dakota came with a tow package. The wiring seems to have a ground issue. Can I just install this T-One harness and use it, or would the factory installed wiring need to be disconnected?

You can install the T1 connector, # 118323, on your 2005 Dodge Dakota without disconnecting the factory wiring harness. It might be easier and more cost effective to determine what the issue is with the factory wiring harness.

Some common problems are corrosion in the vehicle and/or trailer side connectors. Corrosion can build up in the plugs and behind them where the wires connect where you cannot see it. This can cause a poor connection and can lead to any number of problems.

If the issue is on the trailer side, changing the connector on the vehicle will not help. I will be happy to help troubleshoot the issue if you can tell me exactly what the problem is.
