Comparing the Highland Sportwing and Swagman XTC-4 Four Bike Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Racks

The Highland Sportwing, # 1370400 and the Swagman XTC4, # S64665 are 2 very different styles of bike racks, so it is tough to compare them to each other. Both are going to hold 4 bikes or various styles, but the edge goes to the Sportwing because it holds the bikes at the wheels and does not require a third attachment point at the frame.

The XTC-4 is going to be heavier, about 60 pounds, compared to the Sportwing at about 35 pounds. This will make the Sportwing easier to install and remove. In terms of ease of loading bikes, I give the edge to the XTC-4. Once the bikes are put into place it is easier to get them secured. On the Sportwing, you would have to lift one end of the bike at a time.

In terms of construction the XTC-4 is the winner. It is a solid bike rack and I can speak from experience having put them together before. The Sportwing is not a complicated rack so it is easier to put together than the XTC-4 but when bikes are placed in each rack, they do feel more secure in the XTC-4.
