If your Equinox has the factory roof rack with crossbars, the SportRack Explorer Cargo Box you mentioned would mount directly to crossbars, as long as the crossbars are no larger than 4 inches in diameter or no closer together than 24 inches.
If you only have the tracks that run along the edge of the roof from the front to the rear, you will need to add crossbars to provide an attachment point for the cargo box. You can add crossbars using the following parts from Yakima:
Crossbars, part # Y00408
Yakima RailGrab Towers, part # Y00138
End Caps for Crossbars, part # Y8007026
Yakima also has a fairing available, part # Y07047. Using a fairing will improve the aerodynamics of the roof rack, thus reducing wind noise and might also improve fuel economy.
Since an Equinox is a fairly tall vehicle, you might also want to consider a Wheel Mounted Tire Step like part # TH2100. The step would make accessing your roof mounted cargo box much safer and easier.
I have linked you to the install instructions for the Explorer Cargo Box, as well as a product demonstration video.
