Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch for Carrying a Bike Rack

Question:

i am looking to install a hitch to carry bikes on 2006 Thor 5th wheel. Are these hitches used for rear of trailers? Thanks

This can be done; the application you selected, (82200), will fit a range of 31 inches to 46 inches wide and is for motor homes/RVs. It is a Class III hitch. It also has side mounting brackets, or can be welded to your existing trailer. Any bike rack behind a 5th wheel will bounce around a lot; you may want to consider a RV/Camper bike rack since it may be particularly hard on the welds.

For your reference, I will link you to the web pages listing the bike racks for Class III hitches; you can best determine what fits your current and future needs. Please note, the first link will have 1-1/4 inch Class II racks also, so please choose what you need at this time. I would not choose a Class II hitch due to the bouncing the rack will take. Some racks specifically state not to be used behind a 5th wheel for that reason.
