Towing Hot Dog Cart with 2008 Honda Fit

Question:

It seems that the other customers purchased their hitches for bike racks on their Fits. Im looking to be able to pull a mobile hot dog vending cart behind my 2008 Fit Sport. Is that possible? Total cart weight fully loaded for an event is about 900lbs. Thank you!

Assuming that the cart is a trailer equipped with lights and is capable of being towed, what you propose might be possible. The weight of the cart seems to be well within the capabilities of the hitch, but you will need to check with your owners manual or Honda to ensure that the vehicle can be used for towing. I cannot recommend anything that would contradict the vehicle manufacturer recommendations.

If Honda does not prohibit using the vehicle to tow your cart, you will need to wire the vehicle to work with the lights on the trailer. We offer a Tow Ready Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118420 that is a simple plug-and-play installation.

I would recommend the Hidden Hitch # 60847, because it includes the draw bar and pin and clip. You would also need the appropriately sized trailer ball to match the coupler on the cart. The coupler should have the required ball size stamped on it. For a 1-7/8 inch ball, use part # 19256 or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball.
